Ghost Boat

Of course this is no ghost or mirage, but fog is no stranger to Maine. At times images can appear ghost-like through the densest of fogs. Maine has some of the thickest, particularly over the coastline. Here, in Stonington, home of the largest, if not the largest lobster boat fleets in the world, fog knows how to make an impact. As I shot this lobster boat in a morning fog, I couldn’t help think of how dangerous it is for these lobster fisherman to earn a living. This is how these fisherman were starting their day, and this fog did not clear for quite some time. I will certainly be more thoughtful of what some persons go through to enable so many others, myself included, to enjoy one of the world’s most delicious of foods.
